I found out Wednesday on Jane's website that she would be appearing for a American Heart Association workshop in Cincinnati today. She was going to give a dinner speech at noon. I figured they posted so late that there wouldn't be many sig hounds going. I drove four hours and got there about 10:30am. Jane shows up at 11:50am and starts mingling with the people outside of where it's going to happen. I wander over and introduce myself and told her that I drove all the way from West Virginia to see her. She said wow, like she had no idea how far that would be. I asked her to sign my poster, and she said I must be quite the collector. I said sure. She signs it and I ask her a few questions about the BSG series. She then goes into the luncheon.
I didn't get a photo with her, so I decided to wait until afterwards to see if I could catch her while she was coming out. During this time, they were setting up books and tables in the lobby. I asked, and found out that she was signing after the luncheon. You could buy her book for $25, or a series of notecards with her artwork for $15. I asked the lady if she was signing those for free, and she said she'd sign anything for free.
Well, since I bypassed her charity address because I didn't trust them, I bought 2 sets of notecards. I waited until the majority of people who paid big money to attend the workshop, then I asked her to sign 2 8x10's. She did notice I had bought the notecards, so maybe she would have said something if I didn't. Anyway, she inscribed both. I had a guy behind me in line and take a picture of us. The 4 hour drive home, I was very happy!
Here's the pics.
By the way, bonus points for anybody that noticed that the one photo I got signed shows the image that the artist used when making the movie poster.
