Last night the famous Golden Globes Awards ceremony took place. The Globes usually give a good indication for the Oscars. The winners can be found on this page. Big winners were Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain (due for realease on 16/02/06 in the Netherlands) and the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line (an 02/02/06 release).

Interesting news today, although I am not too enthusiastic about it. Turns out there is going to be a sequel to The Dark Crystal. Genndy Tartovsky will helm the project, script is ready and production will start around the summer:

"Set hundreds of years after the first film, the sequel follows a mysterious girl made of fire who steals a shard of the crystal in hopes of reigniting the dying sun.

Do they need to torture us all over again?

Don't quite agree with you there. While I prefer Henson's Labyrinth over Dark Crystal for example, it was a cool and very good movie. But I can't say I'm looking forward to a sequel even if Tartakovsky is attached to this project. I haven't been enjoying much of what came out after Jim's death. Farscape would be the only thing that comes to mind.
