Received yesterday this signed photo. Cannot remember when I did the request, think somewhere in June or July. Probably not everybody's favourite, but you gotta admit; he is a character and worldfamous!

I had the same one, tossed it away since it's a pre-print.

Ah... I wondered why I never heard of real successes of him.

I thought so too, that's also a reason to put it in here. Maybe someone could tell if this one is real. How can you see that it is a reprint? However, the photo is nice. No way I am gonna tear it apart.

beejay, To find out if you have a preprint, Step one go onto ebay and look for signed photos of him. If it's a preprint, you will likely see several signed by him. Notice how several are signed in exactly the same spot. Step 2 is to look at the signature. Can you see any of the ink that is standing up on the photo or is it just flat. If you can't see any depth, go to the next step. The next step is the acetone test. Use acetone or fingernail polish remover. Use a Q-Tip with a little (not dripping) on the end and roll it across the tip of the beginning or end of the signature. If it's not a preprint, you will see a bit of the ink on the Q-Tip. Make sure you do this lightly on the edge so you don't smear the sig. If you do get ink, it could be an autopen. For this go to ebay and look for signed photos. If they have signed photos that are signed in exactly the same way, same height, same slant, same angle, then it's most likely a preprint. I can usually tell if it's a preprint if it's any color other than black just by looking at it. For black, I'll look at ebay first and use acetone second. In your case though, there is an ebay seller who has what he admits is a preprint for sale: cgi.ebay.com/Ozzy-Osbourne-Signed-8x10-Preprint-Black-Sabbath_W0QQitemZ200057576644QQihZ010QQcategoryZ104418QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemNotice how his signature goes across the same exact spot over his fingers and wrist as yours. The odds of him signing in exactly the same spot on the picture is virtually impossible. Sorry. But no reason to tear it up if you like it.

Thank you very much for your explanation and finding an example to confirm that it is just a reprint...
