Extra Extra, Read all about it!

Gang,

I have applied to be an extra in a movie!!!

For the history, back around 1970, on the way back after a game, there was a plane crash that killed almost all of the Marshall University (American college) football team.

They are making a movie about this tragic event. The coach of the Marshall team in the film will be played by no less than Matthew McConaughey!

Anyway, they asked for applicants for extras (mostly to sit in the stands and cheer for the football team) and I applied. They are filming here in Huntington WV for about three weeks in March.

I'm excited as all get out to be part of that. Not only for being in a movie, but a movie that brings attention to the disaster. By the way, I am currently enrolled at Marshall for a masters degree.

What are the odds? Well they need as many extras as possible, and I had to go through some obscure links to get to the application part. I'm not young enough to pass for a 20 year old, but they may take what they can get and they didn't ask my age.

Some new information:

Marshall University is pleased to assist Warner Bros. in the production of this film. Current students and staff will be considered for extras in campus-based scenes. General public and sporting crowd scenes will include extras from beyond the campus. Warner Bros. and Thunder Road Pictures will select all individuals associated with this film and will have the sole discretion as to who participates.

1,500 have applied, but not all are students.

Note that I am a current (graduate) student...
