Just got back from my first day at Pinkpop (No camping for me, I live close by).
Today I saw:
Placebo Paul Weller Kaiser Chiefs Admiral Freebee Nelly Furtado Kubb Dresden Dolls
Nelly Furtado was an absolute highlight. She had a really great show. The kaiser chiefs had some great moments too, with songs like I Predict A Riot. And Paul Weller was a pleasent surprise. i didn't know many of his songs, but he had a great show too.
Placebo had a good show, but as they are one of my fave bands I expected more. Admiral Freebee was really funny, well he's Belgian so that figures. I didn't know Kubb. And the Dresden Dolls really sucked.
Tomorrow I hope to be seeing Hooverphonic and the Bloodhound Gang.

Placebo was one of the bands that interested me at this edition of pinkpop (together with Tool and the peppers). But since these three bands play at different days pinkpop became to expensive for me. Btw Hooverphonic made some nice songs, don't know how are live though....

Second day: Kashmir - Very good live band - shame I didn't know their music The Rakes - Wasn't excited, everything sounded the same Van Katoen - Cool band, they playe dreally well - even though everything was just screamed and loud. Bloodhound Gang - After years of listening, I finally got to see them. Good show, although sometimes a bit too gross (For instance live belching and pee-ing on stage). The Zutons - Good band, not great, but good. Dredg - I expected loud music, but I was pleasently surprised. Nice band to listen to. Racoon - Dutch Pride in dark days . Again a good show. Danko Jones - Seen 'em before and love them. Danko is a born entertainer. Infadels - BEST show of the day. Right mix of beats, guitars and vocals. Gonne see them again at Parkpop dEUS - Yawn, I just can't see why this is the biggets Belgian act, I'll go for Hooverphonic please.....and I did Hooverphonic - Ladies and gentleman a dream come true. Have been dying to see them live for years now. And it was worth it. First 30 minutes I didn't know the songs. Then it all turned to the better. A GREAT singer, GREAT musicians, GREAT show !!!!!!!!! After that I just had to leave. I couldn't bear listening to Tool. I needed HP to be the perfect end of the evening. See y'all tomorrow with Skin, Franz Ferdinand, Morrissey, Nickelback, Keane, Soulfly and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Couldn't bear to watch Tool? Damn! I wished I was there! Tool back with a new album, and performing live... it took a long time for this to happen again.
Love the Infadels as well. Same with Hooverphonic, allthough their last album isn't on the same level of greatness as Jackie Cane.
Tomorrow's gonna a blast at Pinkpop with the Peppers, Keane, Soulfly, Franz Ferdinand, Deftones, The Editors and Skin (who I saw live in 2003 and was blown away by her performance, I thought it would be a lame performance...)

I hate it when bands are awsome on their albums but suck big time when they play live. Their album rocks though, so they do make cool music. But that's everyone's personal taste I guess...

Hmm well I was there - and I thought the Kaiser Chiefs were okay. Not great, but not bad either. Anyway. I just came back from a GREAT day at Pinkpop. And I have the sunburns to proove it My day: Soulfly: Love it. Normally I'm no big metal fan, but this is awesome. Especially when Max played his old Sepultura song Roots! Skin: This is what I came to see. The absolute highlight of the festival. Skin is such an amazing singer, and a great performer too. Thumbs up !!! David Gray: Not a big fan, too slow for me. But he is good in what he does, so he deserves all my respect. Blöf: Personally I didn't care to se ethem at Pinkpop. Yes, they are a good band, and they played very well. But you can see them almost every week. Deftones: Last time I saw them, they sucked big time. This time tehy actually managed to put on a good show. Keane: Yawnnnnnn. Yesterday's news. Nickelback: Also yesterday's news, but definitely no yawn. Very good performance, great audience participation. I liked it. Franz Ferdinand: Definitely one of the best performances at Pinkpop. I love FF. Great songs, great show, great band. Morrissey: I had to see this guy live. He's a legend. Sure I didn't know many of his songs, but still I had to go. And it was worth it. Great ending to a great day. Oh no wait, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. let's just say I wasn't impressed. I never have been. Yes they have great songs. But not a great song. NO audience participation, a crappy sound. It would have been better to put on a CD. All in all it was a fantastic weekend. I saw some amazing performances: Skin, Franz Ferdinand and the Infadels. And I saw several other great ones. I was only disappointed in a few bands. So well done Mr Smeets. See you next year !!!

From what I've seen on the tv this is my personal top 5 of favourite shows on Pinkpop 2006:
01) The Editors 02) Skin 03) Deftones 04) Keane 05) Placebo
Worth mentioning: SOULFLY (love them!), Franz Ferdinand, Morrisey, Peppers (agree with IM about the audience-participation)
