Curious Story:
There's this guy named Hal Wamsley who claims that he played 'Datcha'; the Jawa that shot R2 in A New Hope....
Turns out he's just a fraud.....

Okay, that's f.cked. I have one of him as well  home.wanadoo.nl/msenli/scans/Hal_Wamsley.jpgLucky me I got it for free, from a friend. BUT, there isn't really a clear confirmation about this is there ? and since there isn't a confirmation from people who are 100% sure, who are we to say he's a fraud ? I mean, this guy is signing autographs for years now and never did anyone say something about it ? not even the other actors. Just my 2 cents, thanks for the info though. |

This discussion about Wamsley has been going around for many years now. Actors do give a lot of information, but it's all off the record. You won't hear them make any official statements. And can you blame them? First of all, it is not their duty, responsibility or anything. Secondly, don't forget that the convention circuit is not that big. The chance of bumping into a fellow actor is quite high. And there are not that many people in this world who feel comfortable confronting others with whatever. It's a sad thing in the end, and unfortunately it's just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Unfortunately, not all info on IMDB is accurate. Don't get me wrong, it's a hell of a website in my humble opinion, great info, but use it as a guide / database, not as a "bible".

That's exactly right. It's the best resource out there. But I've found many omissions and errors. Just like A said, don't take it for gospel.
