Since the serie gets more popular, also more companies/persons are selling Galactica signatures on eBay. This irritates me of course, but the signatures are now presented in such a way they might look real to a beginning buyer/collector. Sure, eBay is a nice marketplace to find anything, but beginning buyers/collectors in autographs should definitely avoid it by miles. Thumbrule is the popular a series gets the more fakes are produced. Mike and I are mainly collecting original Galactica (less popular) and though also there many fakes are offered, we now and then buy some genuinely fantastic items on eBay (like the 7 cards signed by Lorne Greene, which ARE real, ladies and gentlemen, don't get any thought about these). But hey, we know our sigs (especially Lorne Greene)! I started this thread because some fake New Galactica signatures come really, REALLY close to the genuine thing. So since we don't feel sorry for the fracking fakers, I'm making a blacklist here. Look, be amazed by them, but DON'T buy! Click on the buyer to see what they're offering now: bubble-n-squeackAlways offers multiple Galactica items. Says to have sources with the studio. Has private feedback and keeps ID of bidders private (there a big warning to stay away!). Example: Nice colors on the pens guys! All signatures look off, easy to spot. jeexpressThese guys go all the way. They made a special Galactica page, are calling themselves the Galactica experts. Actually name places where they got some signatures. Nothing wrong right? Wrong! Example: Very hard to spot. But look closely. All signatures look like they're done by one hand. Same pressure points. Same handwriting in the characternames. Soon more!

Maybe a good idea to mail those dealers a link to this thread? ;D

Maybe a good idea to mail those dealers a link to this thread? ;D When I tried to start a similar thread in the eBay autographs group I was almost shot. It's absolutely NOT DONE to bash on dealers in the Ebay groups because of legal problems. Here everybody doesn't care, but rather like to have the information!

You should report them to Ebayers that suck LOL. Just forgot the address though.... And you are right they look really close as well, but still a bit off like the J with Jamie Bamber and the same handwriting in the characternames is a dead give away.
Unfortunately Ebay doesn't give a sh!t because they make money this way.

They were selling one that they claimed was signed by the cast members at the Paley Festival in Los Angeles last month -- except that the picture was taken at the Paley Festival! I emailed the seller about it and it got taken down, but the signatures looked like the ones on all the rest of their items. There's a place in the Midwest -- Cherry Autographs, also sometimes Crossroads Collectibles -- on eBay that sells some very obvious fakes (including ones of Katee Sackhoff with her name misspelled, like item #6615664086). The one definitively legitimate seller on eBay that I know of is BSGAutographs, which is run by David Eick's brother. Thanks for posting this thread, by the way. It really gets me that people do fakes like these.

I emailed one ebay seller faking BSG TOS and told them I could come work for them. That I could do a much better job faking their auto's than whoever they are paying.
I never got a response...
To give credit where credit is due, I think jeexpress is above poolboy status. They aren't obvious fakes.
They have some great photos though.

It really gets me that people do fakes like these. Welcome! There are many Galactica collectors on this forum, so a thread like this is a good warning for those who are less expierenced. I do believe good deals can be found on eBay, but you need some knowledge on dividing the fakes from the real ones. We have several threads on where to buy genuine Galactica (and other) autographs and you'll find a lot of Iconograph (BSGautographs.com) lovers here as well. I spotted major faker Cherry Autographs before but they stopped offering Galactica for now. As soon as they're offering I'll brand them as well in the first post. I also saw a new faker called Starstruck as well, which I'll also add soon. Their signatures are so bad that not the poolboy signed those, but he must have bought pens for his 5 yo children to help him out (that happens when he's behind schedule).
