I don't agree with that. But I understand what you mean. Today, if blood is not spilled in a horror flick withing the first 10 mins people are not happy.
The older horror movies started with a beginning explaining things and buildt it up to a climax towards the midth/end of the movie. I love those movies. Movies like The shining, The excorsist, The omen, The changeling and so on, are for me amongst the best horror movies ever made.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for blood and guts in horror movies. I'm a big fan of the Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm street movies... heck I even like Braindead and Bad taste. But for me those are not compareable to the older ones. The older ones use supspense/tension-factor while the newer ones use the shock-factor.
But it's all good ;D

But I agree about the older horrormovies that they are the best!
