Hey gang,
What do you use as backing boards for your 8x10 photos through the mail? I know I can get some old cardboard boxes and cut them down, but I'd rather get something already the right size.
What do you use?
Mike

I get them through a friend of mine who works at a postal distribution center. Many companies use a standard size backboard to support bundles of magazines or whatever. They are the perfect size, they are very strong, they come in large numbers and best of all: free.

It depends, sometimes I buy these plastic maps that they sell at movie fairs. The come in 8x10s, 11x14s etc. They're also good for displaying.
Other times I simply send it in a heavy enveloppe, either padded or cardboard.

I use toploaders and cardboard. I used to use toploaders too for a while, but don't mind me saying: Those things are terrible, your photo always sticks to the plastic and when people try to get them out they ruin your photo by creasing it or leaving finger nail marks. So I trew all the remaning toploaders in the trash ;D

We have really strong 2mm grey cardboard at work. They're A1 size panels, but in about ten minutes you have 10 nice 8x10 cardboards. I put these in soft toploaders together with my photo. The soft toploaders don't stick and it keeps the card and photo together without creasing. Photos are very easy to remove and put back. I reuse all cardboard from my returns (sometime when you're lucky even the envelope when they forgot to stamp it! )

Wooh, that's heavy. Sending outside of Europe, that would be twice as expensive as under 100g.
