IM, thanks for the news.
Marshall University has a new football stadium. To get the look for the old one, they are finding a stadium in the state of Georgia where Warner Brothers also has a setup. The info in the previous post is for them to film all of the football game scenes with fans in the stands. They will take all they can get. Notice in baseball movies, they often only show one section at a time. The more people that show up, the more sections they show. But you aren't going to get 70,000 extras, so you zoom in to what you can fill.

News update.
They had a block party with actors & producers talking to the crowd Saturday night. A notable absence was Matthew Fox, who was still filming Lost. He flew in this weekend, will shoot some, fly back out to Hawaii, and back again.
I drove through Huntington this evening looking at the hotel I think they will be staying at. No movement. I drove through two parks and three streets looking for where I thought they would be shooting, but except for one street where they have changed all of the storefronts to look as it did 30 years ago, I saw no equipment.
I plan on getting to the hotel at 6am tomorrow and see if I can get the actor as they get into a vehicle to go off to film. After that, I'll try to see where they are filming. Just follow the crowds I suppose.
The only good info about Fox coming and going is that I'll find out the flight schedule at the local airport (SMALL) and case there on the weekends if necessary.

Came up with a big zero today. I cased the hotel I thought they would be at from 6-8:15am without luck. If any of the actors or people would have been there, there would have been some kind of bus/entourage.
Drove up and down the streets and didn't see anything. Walked on campus, drove to 2 parks, a nearby airport, and the street where they fixed the storefronts up to look like the old time.
I may try again Wedensday.

Day 2 update. I found out yesterday that they filmed in a town west of Huntington. I drove through the main street of that town, but unfortunately missed them. But they could have been blocks away from that road.
Today they are filming on campus at a practice football field next to the dorms. I am taking my boy to baseball practice, so I can't go down there. Which sucks, as I know exactly where they are at.
Next week they are telling the students that they can't use specific parking areas due to filming. So I'm thinking they will be filming on campus all next week. I heard that Fox had to go back and forth to film Lost, so I'm not sure he will be there.
I have a new lead on a hotel. It's booked, and there isn't any reason for it to be. I'm trying it tomorrow morning.

Day 3 was a bust as well. Since McConaughey was spotted jogging and/or walking his dog at 9:30am, I figured I need to get there a little later. I got to the first hotel I thought at 7:30 am, and I saw cars with the "We Are Marshall" official transportation in front. But maybe I got there too late, because I didn't see them come out. I waited at the nearby Starbucks till 10am, and no sign of either one. This website game me some info on where to track them down. www.whereinhuntingtonismatthewmcconaughey.com/Sightings.htmMcConaughey is definitely on the move around the area. Mike

Day 4 update.
I didn't go to Huntington today, but the City of Huntington has put the list of street closures for the next two weeks, so I know where they will be filming, subject to change without notice.
7 days will be on Marshall's campus (where I went to college) in 4 different locations. No chance on location, as there will be hundreds of college students gawking about. The other day they shot near the campus they had everything blocked off (zero chance for sigs) and put them into vans and SUV's. Best bet at the hotel in the morning.
2 days on streets right next to the hotel, so I don't think I'll even have access.
1 day they are shooting on a street 4 blocks from the hotel. Will they walk it?
Monday was the first day of shooting in Kenova, and they didn't start till 1pm. Wednesday they left early to finish shooting there. Tuesday they shot near campus for the first time, and didn't start till 1pm.
Tomorrow is first day of shooting on campus. Will they set up and start in the afternoon again? I've guessed wrong twice now.

Day 5 Update: Came up empty again. I was in front of the hotel from 6:30am to 8:30am. I saw lots of cars from the movie picking people up, but none of the big three. I found out later that David Straitham went out a different door. I gave up at 8:30am to check the other hotel because all the cars quit coming and going. I found out later from the staff that I went 5 minutes before Matthew McConaughey went out walking his dog. They never heard of Matthew Fox. You have to remember that over here, McConaughey is 10 times more popular than Fox. I drove around looking for McConaughey but couldn't find him. I went on campus where they were filming. I saw where they had the outfits for the extras. Look how 70's: They were doing a scene filmed on the top floor of one of the campus buildings. They had cameras and lights on the outside of the building filming inside. The scene was that Marshall University president (played by Straitham) was meeting with the school board and something happens outside the window that they all look out at to see. Here's a closeup of the three windows they were filming in: I noticed one star and one minor star. David Straitham and some guy who was in million dollar baby. Straitham is on the right: There was one person who said they saw Matthew Fox inside, and somebody else said they saw McConaughey eating outside (off limits) an hour before I got there. The news media was set out in front of the building, and they weren't for sure who was coming out. I waited until I saw it was only the Director McG. You can also see the building and cameras in the background of this picture: I walked around to the road where the actors would get easy access out, but I guess they left before I got there. I wandered around where the extras were changing out of their outfits, and I overheard people saying that neither McConaughy nor Fox were in that scene. And that they were off from filming that day and seeing the sights. So I came home empty again. The only postive thing is that I know that Straitham and McConaughey are at the hotel I thought they were. I haven't heard from anybody that's seen Fox outside of shooting. McConaughey is pretty much on schedule when he walks his dog, so I might drive up Sunday and go see if I can find him. As for Fox, I don't even know what hotel he's in, much less his habits. I might have to just try and guess which day he's leaving and hit the airport. Update: I just now heard on the evening news that Matthew Fox was at the Marshall football practice. His hair is dyed red for his role in the movie.

They said on the 11pm news that Fox will only be here one more week, before returning to Hawaii for Lost.

Well, hopefully you can find out what time he leaves. Then he MUST be at the airport! (I hope )

Well IF he leaves tomorrow, I know exactly what time the flight leaves the local airport, although he could get a better flight if he drives 50 miles to the next airport.
But he would have got a much better flight if he left this morning, and I don't know of any reason why he would stay an extra day. But no use crying over spilt milk. I'll work with what I have left, and see if there's anything on the news about another appearance by him today.

Day 7: I struck out completely on Fox. I got to the Huntington airport at 5:50am. They had one flight going to Hawaii leaving at 7:20am. No show. I got to the hotel where McConaughey and Strathairn at around 7:30 am to wait for McC to walk his dog. When I walked into the hotel lobby to use the bathroom, I saw David Strathairn at the front desk. He had some bags, and the lady asked him if he was leaving. He said for a bit. I went out a different door to walk around and saw his bags laying on the sidewalk. He then drove a car the movie lets him use, and I asked him politely for an auto. He said sure, wait till I put my bags in the trunk. After that, he took my pic of him as Eddie Cicotte in Eight Men Out and said it was a cool picture. He signed it and I asked for a picture. He said no prob. I got my camera out and discovered that the batteries were dead. Jeez!!! He said, Oh Well, you've still got the photo. I said I was thrilled to have it. Here's the photo: For those who don't know him, he was nominated in for the academy awards this past March for best actor as Edward R. Murrow in Good Bye and Good Luck. Here's his credentials: www.imdb.com/name/nm0000657/I waited in the lobby until 10:30 am and didn't see Fox or McConaughey, so I drove to the Charleston airport. The only other flight going to Hawaii was from there at 12:23pm. I got there an hour before, but never saw him. I feel like crap missing out on Fox. In my defense, I didn't know he was only going to be there for one week, and if I knew that, I would have figured out that he was going to leave yesterday. But still, Strathairn is a nice addition. And I plan on going back for McConaughey. Mike
